I Am So Tired of Men Ghosting Me!

His texts got less and less, then suddenly nothing.

With everything going on in our world right now, I debated whether to answer a letter like usual this week, or send you some comforting words, and I've decided to continue on here as much as normal since many of you are still having the same issues with your relationships even in the midst of a pandemic.

Next week, thanks to one of your suggestions, I'll have some tips on dating in the era of #stayhome and how to not drive yourself crazy being alone!

I hope you're all taking good care of yourselves, staying home as much as you can, and finding support here for all your beautiful hearts and souls that feel everything. I adore each and every one of you for exactly who you are, whether that be scared, anxious, worried or whatever you feel today.

I run the gamut of emotions, too.

If there's something you're going through that you're not finding addressed here, please don't hesitate to reach out or reply to this email. We will get through this the only way we ever do anything well - together.

Beautiful Sami writes to tell us her story of being ghosted by her relatively new long-distance boyfriend, and she's wondering what could have happened.

Read on for her story, along with my response:

Hi Jane,

I started seeing a guy who lives in a different state than me a few months ago. I've seen him three times in person, and those three times we were with each other almost non stop for days.

He even came to visit me one weekend and again, we were with each other the entire time. It was amazing.

When we weren't together, we would text constantly, every single day. He was usually the one who started the conversations, but I would start them occasionally, attempting to let him know that I was just as interested in talking to him as he was interested in talking to me.Continue Reading

Ugh! I've Been Ghosted Again

For the life of me, I don't know what happened.

Ever been ghosted? I talk to so many of you who have! Our letter this week comes from one of our beautiful subscribers, Kim, who has, too, and I know you'll identify with so much of what she's going through.

Here's what she wrote to me:

Hi Jane,

I am at my wits end! I truly feel like I may never find a decent man. I have been ghosted again. I thought he was different. We had gone out 3 times and talked or texted every day for about a month.

He is a single dad of 2 and he was very open about the challenges that might create. I was willing to work with it because he seemed so sincere and everything was there between us that I thought needed to be.

I did notice that we were not talking as much a couple of weeks in, more texting. He had a big project at work and was working long hours etc. He started sharing less and of course I thought it was me overanalyzing but I knew something was different.

My father left and pretty much never looked back so I know I have abandonment and trust issues. I try very hard not to let those fears and hurts dictate my actions when dating.Continue Reading

He Says I'm Amazing But Doesn't Want to Be With Me

Why aren't I enough for someone to make the effort?

Our sweet friend Kim tells us about a guy who she really connected with, who told her she's amazing, but then broke her heart.

Here's what she wrote:

Jane, I need some help!

I am 40 years old and still have not found the right man for me.

I get very frustrated and discouraged sometimes. I met a man in December who I thought had great potential. We met on match.com and had made plans to meet up.

Before that could happen, he texted me saying that the distance was too much. We live about an hour and a half apart.

For me, I was disappointed but since we hadn't even met I moved on. About three weeks later he reached out to me. He told me that he could not stop thinking about me and that he made a really big mistake. So I decided to give him a second chance because I really felt like we had a good connection.

We did meet up and we had a great time.

Minutes after our date he texted me telling me what a wonderful time he had and he was so glad that he got back in touch with me. We talked and texted all the time. We made plans to meet up again about a week later.

When he picked me up he had a dozen roses for me and we had a wonderful romantic date. He was talking about all the things that he wanted to do and he was so excited because Valentine's Day was only a few weeks away.

One of our dear, gentle-hearted readers, who has called herself "D", is an absolute mess after her long-time boyfriend simply disappeared on her, without so much as the courtesy of a phone call.

After over 2 years!

Her email:

My boyfriend of over 2 years has "ghosted" me.

Our last conversation ended with him saying, "Sweet dreams and have a good night".

All was good and thinking nothing was amiss, I called him the next night (we always spoke several times a day), and he didn't answer. I know he was on the other line because my call was placed "in waiting".

Online dating has brought us the amazing ability to connect with so many different people so quickly. Unfortunately, it also means that those same people can disappear faster than ever before. The question this week is from our beautiful friend Laura, who was recently ghosted by a guy on Tinder that she really thought she had hit it off with.

Here's her story:

I'm brand new to online dating, but a friend convinced me to give Tinder a whirl.

About a month ago I matched with a guy, and we really hit it off. Texted daily, and he asked if he could call me.

Yep, actual phone call.

Every time we talked on the phone, it was for hours. We talked about what we wanted, and were on the same page in regard to wanting to settle down, marriage, etc. He told me he was only even still on Tinder bc he was able to see my pics that way.
